VW-1 2024

As we end April 2024, the infamous Navy Squadron VW-1 will be gathering for a long-awaited reunion. Known as the “Typhoon Trackers,” we played a crucial role during the Vietnam War, conducting weather reconnaissance missions in the dangerous typhoon-infested waters of the Western Pacific. The reunion will bring together not only former squadron members, but also our families and loved ones, to honor and remember the sacrifices and accomplishments of the brave individuals.

The VW-1 reunion in 2024 will be a time for reflection and remembrance, as well as a celebration of camaraderie and shared experiences. For many former squadron members, this reunion will provide an opportunity to reconnect with old friends and colleagues, reminisce about our time in the service, and catch up on each other’s lives since their days in the Navy.

As the VW-1 reunion starts, there is a sense of excitement and anticipation among those who served in this legendary squadron. The reunion offers a chance to honor the memory of those who have passed, to pay tribute to the bravery and dedication of all squadron members, and to continue the bonds of friendship and camaraderie that were forged during our time together. It is sure to be a memorable and meaningful event that will serve as a testament to the lasting impact of the Typhoon Trackers and their important role in history.

This year we get to see the Blue Angels perform and oh boy is their performance a breathtaking experience unlike any other. The precision and skill of the pilots as they maneuver their jets through intricate formations at exhilarating speeds is truly awe-inspiring. The deafening roar of the engines, the graceful arcs and dives, and the perfectly timed maneuvers all combine to create a spectacle that leaves spectators on the edge of their seats. Witnessing the Blue Angels in action is not just a display of aviation prowess, but a testament to the dedication, discipline, and teamwork that goes into becoming one of the world’s elite aerial demonstration teams. It is a reminder of the power of human ingenuity and the thrill of pushing the limits of what is possible, though still not as thrilling as willfully flying into a typhoon.

As the reunion progresses, please feel free to email any picture to vwone@vwone.org and we will be sure to include it in the coming days.
